Banana
George and his wife JoAnne recently had a short but
eventful stay in Paris and Berlin. They flew first to Paris where
they have a small pied-a-terre and then flew the next day to Berlin.
Banana George was honored to be a guest of the annual Congress of
the EAME -- Europe, Asia and Middle East Region of the International
Waterski Federation. This year the Congress met in Potsdam. Banana
George was welcomed by EAME President Franz Kuhn and
Secretary-General Sid Adriaensen. He was happy to see good friends
Kuno Ritschard, President of the IWSF, as well as Andy Harris from
the Barefoot Council. He was given a most touching tribute by Alan
Goggin of Great Britain. All in all, the weekend was a highlight of
his water ski career.
Then back to Paris where JoAnne and George were joined by close
family friends for an evening of dining and jazz at the Quai du
Blues in Neuilly. George was delighted to be invited to sit in on
the drums. He was rewarded by enthusiastic applause and asked to
play several more numbers. Plus, being invited back during his nest
trip to Paris!
By a happy coincidence, George's web master, Dave Meyers, was in
Paris with his son D.L. the same week. The four friends and
"business associates" enjoyed a Sunday afternoon luncheon cruise on
the Seine. A good time was had by all.
After Paris, Banana George spent several weeks in Steamboat Springs,
Colorado, where he has been named Steamboat's Ambassador of
Snowboarding by legendary Olympian Steamboater Billy Kidd.
Spring is here and Banana can be found during the next month in
Winter Haven, FL where he is barefooting daily and being privileged
to sit in on the drums at "Al's Place" during their Sunday afternoon
jazz sessions. |
